Saint Ambrose Catholic School Principal Transition Update
By: Father Peter Williams

Saint Ambrose Catholic Community,

I write to share that Betsy Osterhaus Hand has accepted the position of Vice President for Educational Excellence with the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence.

While this brings a sense of transition for our community, it is also an extraordinary opportunity—both for Betsy and for Catholic education more broadly. This role calls for a leader with deep experience, a heart for mission, and a gift for strengthening schools. Betsy’s vocation as a Catholic educator continues to unfold in new ways, and this opportunity allows her to extend her impact across Catholic Schools throughout our entire state.

At Saint Ambrose, we have been richly blessed by Betsy’s leadership over the past twelve years as principal and her 26 years of dedicated service to our school community. As Assistant Principal, she was part of the founding leadership team that helped open Saint Ambrose Catholic School, and her impact has been woven into the life of the school from the very beginning.

She has strengthened our Catholic identity, supported our teachers, partnered with families, and helped shape a school rooted in both faith and excellence. Her leadership has been marked by wisdom, creativity, and steady composure.

As we look ahead, we will be establishing a Hiring Committee, comprised of representatives from the School Advisory Committee, school staff, and parish administration, to guide the search for our next principal.

We give thanks for Betsy’s leadership, her faith, and her generous service, and we entrust her next chapter to the Lord.

Please join me in prayer for Betsy and in gratitude for all she has given to Saint Ambrose.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Peter J. Williams
Pastor
