The Beginning of a Life in Faith

Baptism is the first of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church. It is received only once, marking the moment a person becomes part of the Body of Christ and the community of faith. Through Baptism, the recipient receives justifying and sanctifying grace, and the Holy Spirit begins to dwell within them.

At Saint Ambrose, the sacraments are not isolated events but part of a lifelong journey of faith—rooted in community, worship, and ongoing formation.

Infant & Child Baptism

We are honored to walk with families as they prepare for the Baptism of their child.
Please complete the following steps to begin the process:

Steps to Schedule a Baptism

  1. Complete the Baptism Registration In-Take Form, which can be downloaded here.
  2. Schedule and attend a Baptism Preparation Class, if applicable.
  3. Submit your Baptism Registration Form with godparent information and a copy of the birth certificate. You can download a copy by clicking here.
  4. Receive confirmation that all forms are complete and your baptism date is scheduled.

Please submit all Baptism forms and register for a Baptism Preparation Class through Marie Maki ([email protected]) at the parish office.

We ask that the Baptism Registration In-Take form be submitted at least three months in advance to allow time for preparation and scheduling. Baptism dates fill quickly, so we encourage families to plan ahead to ensure their preferred date.

If you are not yet a registered parishioner, please register as a member of the Saint Ambrose Catholic Community before scheduling your child’s baptism.

Godparent Guidelines

Selecting Godparents

Each child must have at least one godparent who is a baptized and confirmed Catholic. If two are chosen, one must be male and one female.
Godparents must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
  • Attend Mass regularly and be able to receive the Eucharist

Learn more in our Saint Ambrose Godparent Guidelines.

Role of a Godparent

Godparents serve as spiritual companions and witnesses to the faith. They promise to pray for and guide their godchild, supporting the parents in nurturing their child’s relationship with Christ. In the event parents cannot raise the child in the faith, godparents may also take on that responsibility.

Final Registration Step

Once godparents are selected, please complete the Baptism Registration Form, which includes:

  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  • Baptismal certificate information
  • Godparent details
